What Parents Say About Our Nursery

Speaking from my son’s experience he absolutely loves The Nursery (Wistaston). He speaks very highly of all the staff and will eat all kinds of foods that he won’t touch at home. Since moving from another nursery in November he’s come on leaps and bounds socially. He’s happy to go in a morning, in fact some weekend he’d rather be at nursery

R, Current Parent

I’m really impressed at how the indoor setting has been refurbished and updated with some fantastic resources. I’m so pleased that they have recently announced they will be doing forest school as that’s such an exciting activity for the children. Our child also has an egg and dairy allergy and the nursery has been fantastic at offering him alternatives.

Vicky, Current Parent

‘I just wanted to add that it was really wonderful visiting your nursery. I was very impressed by the curriculum. A few things stood out for us that influenced our decision to enrol our child with yourselves. Alice and all of your staff were incredibly warm and friendly, It was very encouraging and comforting to see how proud and enthusiastic Alice was in regards to how your nursery celebrate different cultures and religions. As a south Asian family having grown up in Cheshire myself, we were keen for our child to be in an environment where he learns about diversity with a wholesome inclusive approach. Further more her awareness of halal diets and how you already facilitate this in the nursery for a few other Muslim children was encouraging.

Lastly and most important the children looked very comfortable and at home and we hope our child will also have a smooth settling in period with yourselves.

Outdoor Discovery: Growing, Learning, and Playing in Nature

We love to get outside at Corner House Wistaston! We offer forest school and playmakers, which is sports lessons, for toddlers to preschool at an additional charge but free for children that are full time with us.

As well as access to our 4 large fabulous outdoor play areas, children of all ages enjoy regular walks in the local area. We take children out in groups, come rain or shine, to take part in a variety of activities set up by our staff. Wherever possible we try to take our indoor learning outside. We have a designated all weather area for the baby room children to explore and a soft play surface area for all of our children to use.

During our time outside we teach children how to assess risk, problem solve, share, gather and utilise from nature as we are committed to teach our children about their environment and the effect we have on it in our day to day lives. We are very fortunate to have our little allotment beds for planting and growing our own vegetables and a mud kitchen for exploratory role play while making changes wherever we can to make the world a cleaner place too!

Our youngest children are often seen out in our buggies enjoying the fresh air, sights and sounds of the local community. We use high visibility vests to keep children safe when out on trips away from the nursery. We have a playground, bike track, large natural garden area and separate baby garden that is no mowed. All children leave wellington boots and waterproof clothing at nursery so they can be appropriately dressed for all seasons!
